We were very happy with the Melbourne Hotel. It exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a Contemporary Room and it was very nice - very modern and good looking. When we arrived reception was very friendly and very helpful. The location is great - near a number of restaurants and we had a meal at the hotel one night and it was very good as well. It is right next to AVIS rent-a-car which was handy when we left in one of those cars and it was just a short walk to free bus travel loops in the city and not far from the Barrak St Wharf.

I had the pleasure of staying at this quaint hotel in May 2024. I was put in room 113 on level 1 so easy access up the stairs from the main lobby. My room had high ceilings and a comfy bed with big windows overlooking Hay Street. The room was modern with ample space to store your travelling items and the bathroom had a separate WC and shower with ample amenities provided. I enjoyed dining in house at 'De Buan & Co', can highly recommend the chicken Parmi with a good selection of Australian reds by the glass. The hotel is positioned at the top end of the CBD so if you need to walk into town it is just a short walk down either Hay or Murray Streets. There is also good access up to Kings Park, Elizabeth Quay and foreshore walking The Swan River. I could not fault this hotel if your looking for a convenient and value for money place to stay.

Definitely a hotel that is not suitable for family with young children. They charge 20 bucks/ night to have baby cot in the room. My baby is 1 year old, so of course i have no choice than to pay the baby cot. The room quite small that with the baby cot inside we don’t have any extra space to open the luggage. But their bathroom is huge, so we end up put our luggage in the bathroom. Design wise, the room looks modern and nice, just not practical. The only thing that i like from this hotel is the location that’s convenient.

The Melbourne Hotel is an old heritage pub that's been renovated to a high luxury standard without losing it's old fashioned charm. We stayed one night in December and booked a Balcony Room which is at the front of the building so your room opens out onto the verandah overlooking Milligan St. Its location on a busy intersection means you get a bit of traffic noise, and a fire alarm at a building across the road was annoying, but you have to expect that from a hotel in a modern busy CBD. Our room had all modern furnishings and a really comfy huge bed, great air con, complimentary bottled water, big fluffy towels, slippers and bathrobes. We ordered room service breakfast of ham and cheese toasties, which we ate on the sunlight-filled balcony outside our room while watching the city wake up. Instead of instant coffee sachets you are supplied with drip filter coffee bags, which were confusing to use and didn't taste that great to be honest. There is a Cantonese and a Japanese restaurant on site, as well as a roof-top bar which unfortunately was closed to us for a private function the night we were there. There is limited on-site parking behind the hotel available at an added cost, and would recommend checking in early to secure one of these if you want your car close. There are other food and drink options within walking distance and a convenience store directly across the road.

We arrived in the morning at 6am+. Our customer visits would start at 10.30am so we asked for early check-in. We had reserved 2 rooms. Guess what, a room was ready but we would have to pay AUD 289 and considered a full day stay. It was too expensive to pay for a 2hrs use so we rejected the offer. We decided to rest at the small lobby and when we wanted to leave our luggage at 9am+, another front desk lady told us the room would be available at AUD 100 now. I would have paid AUD 100 for early check in t 6am+ i they have offered to us earlier.
