I stayed at Penang Palace 4 nights. I would have never booked it based on looks. I totally relied on the reviews from the internet. Pros: + very clean and fairly spacious room (housekeeping every day) + cold water dispenser (although water out of mine was not cold) + good AC + wardrobe, fridge, small couch + table + toilet separate from bathroom + 24/7 guarded bicycle parking Cons: - unappealing from the outside - far from city centre - room had no window - mattress was very (too) hard - front desk is rarely occupied and when you ring the bell no one comes, or you have to wait like forever - hard to find even with GPS At just over 700 baht a night it’s not ridiculously expensive but I at least expected a window and a western style mattress. For now it did the trick, but there is probably a better option out there

A quirky hotel Very quite place in busy Bangkok Good wifi Clean and comfortable Only problem is finding the hotel ( we knew where it was before going ) many taxi drivers have not heard of it ....it’s down a lane way with little signage

Nice hotel in Bangkok with big rooms (but be aware no windows) and friendly staff. The location is pretty central and convenient with the MRT 10-15 minutes away. Compared to some hostels in Bangkok this is a good place to stay for a few nights.

We stayed at Penang Palace for about two weeks. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of two MRT stations. It is not the nicest neighbourhood (located near Khlong Toei wholesale market), but the hotel has security and we felt very safe throughout our stay. Not too easy to find - stay on the main road and follow the sign, do not enter any small alleyways. Our room was huge and always very clean (cleaned every day). The bathroom was a bit odd - two sinks on the balcony, and a very small cell with toilet and shower. There was a wall in front of the toilet, so it was impossible to sit on probably. Price was okay for what we got. Staff was friendly and helpful even though they spoke little English. We enjoyed our stay.

The address given does not appear correct. I have extensively searched Sunthon Kosa Road around Khlong Toei and asked numerous people includng taxi drivers and no-one seems to know it. So here i am having pre-paid at an internet cafe near Khlong Toei MTR station , its 10.30 pm and still no idea how to find this hotel. Hope I get there in teh end. I have to provide a rating so Ive given average - directions are terrible so I hope its good when i find it - be warned
