Booked through Eurostar, that was my first mistake. The hotel itself is awful, my room was terrible. Very poor maintenance, someone had tried to set fire to the room before me. The interconnecting door had a burn mark, as did the wall paper. Air con doesn't work. So opened the patio door and it is a communal area so couldn't keep it open at night. Getting access to the room was hard apparently they sent an email with codes but I didn't get it as I booked through Eurostar. So had to ring the reception as it closed at 8pm the phone number didn't work. Thankfully an apartment person knew the door codes so I got in. Hell of a crap hotel.

Asked for an impossible to pay deposit at the last possible moment

On a friday at 23:16 I revieved an email asking us to pay a security deposit of €250(!) for a booking the next monday. Apparently, this had to be paid using a creditcard. Problem is, I don't have one, and didn't need one when booking a room on booking.com. I wasn't able to contact any sort of support; they don't answer messages, emails, or take calls on weekends. Another thing i should mention is that the security deposit cost just as much as the room itself. We were lucky to have one more day(!) to cancel, and we did. Scummy buisness tactic that ruined our vacation to Brussels

The situation in Brussels is perfect in a very calm little square, the accommodation is very clean. Big space with a well equipped kitchen. The bed was very confortable. Big bathroom very well equipped too.

On arrival this didn't seem like a hotel with its locked entrance door. Once one gets in, there's just a reception desk and no common facilities, not even a bar. One needs to use the room card to work the lift, which seems rather odd. Those points aside, the "standard" room was outstanding - king-size bed, desk and swivel chair, large telly, hi-fi, balcony, breakfast bar and fully-equipped kitchen! Breakfast was E15 extra but the room was outstanding value.

The B-Aparthotel is a popular choice amongst those who need to visit Brussels regularly. The choice is fully justified due to its excellent location near the EU institutions and transport hub. I was happy to have got a room (I booked early) at a good value for money in that neighbourhood. The room was rather large, including a good kitchenette area and a well sized bathroom. This being an Aparthotel, reception staff is not available 24/7 and servicing is not done every day. I had to wait till the next morning to place remarks regarding lighting and a broken toaster in the room (issues that were immediately attended). I noted with some disappointment that the room furniture showed wear and tear (wood chipped away, spots on the carpets, mattress that doesn't seem to fit the bed perfectly etc), but this is not usual in the neighbourhood. There are only 2 lifts for about 90 rooms which means that sometimes one has to wait for a while for the lift, not to mention that it could be used by the cleaning team. I also did not like the very chemical cleaning smell in the lobby. Breakfast is available although I did not avail of it as there are many options (deli shops, grocery stores) in the immediate vicinity. So all in all, not a bad choice for the neighbourhood if you are coming for a longish visit in the EU area in Brussels.
