What is Domestic TravInsure?
It’s a travel insurance product from TATA–AIG Ltd., designed especially for Cleartrip passengers.
Who can purchase Domestic TravInsure?
Any Indian between 2 and 70 years of age who is travelling within India can purchase Domestic TravInsure while booking flights on Cleartrip.com

Foreign nationals travelling within India can purchase Domestic TravInsure if they hold a work permit in India.

I booked on Cleartrip, but forgot to buy insurance. Help!
We’re still working on letting people buy insurance after they’ve booked their flights. We know it’s annoying, but hang in there.
My return/connecting flight is not booked through Cleartrip. Am I still covered by Domestic TravInsure?

Benefits like trip cancellation, flight delay, and baggage loss are limited to flights booked through Cleartrip alone. However, other benefits are available throughout the validity of the insurance period. Here’s an example in a nifty table:

My outbound and return flights were booked in separate transactions. Am I still covered?
If you bought Domestic TravInsure with your outbound flight then yes, you are covered during your return trip as well. Provided your return trip is within 30 days from the date of departure.
When does the insurance cover end?
The insurance cover ends as soon as you return to your city of departure, or 30 days since the date of departure – whichever is earlier.
Can I purchase Domestic TravInsure if I’m traveling for more than 30 days?
No. Currently we have only Domestic TravInsure policy which is valid only for 30 days from the departure date.
I want to cancel my trip. Will I get my insurance money back?
Sorry. TATA–AIG Domestic TravInsure cannot be cancelled, modified, or refunded.The Airline charges would be returned though minus the cancellation amount.
I want to change my travel date. Can my insurance dates be changed?
TATA–AIG Domestic TravInsure cannot be modified, therefore one cannot change the travel date.One can however change travel dates for an existing air booking.

Benefits

What does the trip cancellation and trip interruption benefit include?
If you need to cancel or shorten your trip due to illness, injury, or death of either a co–passenger or an immediate family member, you will be reimbursed with the cancellation charges or Rs 20,000 (whichever is lower).
What does the baggage–loss benefit include?
If you end up losing your checked-in baggage (in the custody of the common carrier) you can get reimbursed up to Rs 7,500.
What does the flight delay benefit include?
You can get reimbursed up to Rs 1,500 for every six hour flight delay upto 10,500/- The reimbursement will be based on the actual expenses incurred during the period of delay.
What are the other benefits of Domestic TravInsure?
  • Accidental death and dismemberment
  • Emergency accidental medical expenses
  • Emergency medical evacuation
  • Repatriation of remains

Who would be the beneficiary under this policy?
Benefits will be paid to the insured person’s bona fide legal heir in the event of loss of life under the Accidental death benefit. All other benefits will be payable to the insured person.

Filing Claims

How do I file a claim?
In the event of an insurance claim, download a copy of the Notice of Claim Form Fill it out and fax or post (snail-mail) it to the contact information indicated in the form itself. Go to the claims section to see the details
How long does it take to process a claim?
Claims will be processed within 14 days of your submitting all the required documents.
Is there a time limit for filing a claim?
All claims must be submitted to TATA AIG within 30 days from the date of Loss

Who is responsible and liable for this policy? Who do I contact for queries?
The sole responsibility and liability of this policy lies with TATA AIG General Insurance Company Ltd alone. Although Cleartrip’s customer service chaps will happily answer some basic questions for you it would be better if you contact TATA–AIG directly. Their’s is the last word on this policy. Call them up on 1–800–119966 (toll free from BSNL/MTNL) or 022 66939500 (standard call charges).
Do I have to carry a copy of the “Certificate of Insurance” with me while travelling?
We encourage you to carry a copy of your Certificate of Insurance. If not, please ensure that you at least have your certificate number and the 24–hour assistance service number with you (+91–11–41898858) at all times while travelling.
I didn’t receive my Certificate of Insurance. Grrr…
Contact TATA–AIG and they’ll send you the policy as well as the certificate of insurance to the email id that you used to book travel on Cleartrip.
