Go here if you really want to cut away from everything. The place is situated inside a reserved forest and only people with permission are allowed inside the forest areas. We were a group of four who drove from Bangalore. The last 50-60kms to reach this place from Dandeli is truly breathtaking. Make sure to visit this region after or during monsoon to really enjoy the greenery. The place is around a km from the road and it is set in a lush green field. There are five cottages with basic amenities. Note there are no fans in the room, although the weather is pretty cool. There is a lovely stream that flows behind the rooms. Avinash the owner, is very friendly and is always at your service. The food served in the place is always very good, you would get authentic Maharashtrian food which is very tasty. Trek to Dhoodsagar water falls is arranged. I would urge everyone to do the trek as it is brilliant experience to sit atop the waterfalls and look at the water falling down. The place is perfect for a relaxing holiday with friends. Just make sure you pick up all your supplies at Dhandeli as it it the last major town on the way to the homestay.

Located at a short distance from Castle rock railway station. If you inform in advance the owner can arrange for transportation from rail station if required. Situated in midst of jungle, very beautiful and calm environment, nice place to escape from day to day noise and have a relaxing time. Serves tasty veg/Non veg food, very beautiful during rainy / post rainy season. Suitable for family with basic accommodation and amenities, suitable if don't expect luxury services.

Perfect place to stay especially if you're on the lookout for birds & butterflies. We stayed for a couple of days ( which turned out to be quite insufficient) & were lucky to spot a few exotic birds like Blue-eared Kingfisher, Brown-breasted Flycatcher, Dark-fronted Babbler, Black Bulbul, Nilgiri Flowerpecker, etc. The butterflies included, besides the common ones, Blackvein Sergeant, Red-spot Duke, Gaudy Baron, Chestnut-streaked Sailed, Banded Royal, etc. We weren't really interested in the animals, but for those who are, leopards, bisons, giant squirrels, foxes, slender loris, bears, etc can provide the excitement. The home-made veg & non-veg delicacies were mouth-watering & the owner Mr Avinash Redkar & his courteous staff treated us like family members. A must place to visit if your preferences are as described above. Note: Don't expect a lavish spread for meals, an air-conditioner, a mini-bar, a spa, Jacuzzi & things alike. Just in case you are, drive another 60 km & you would find plenty of places that offer these facilities. Because then you would be in Goa.

This cool place is perfect holiday destination for those who loved to be surrounded by nature and getting completely disconnected from the outside world. Located 5Kms from Castle Rock, Whistling thrush homestay managed by Mr.Avinash is perfect get away from the hectic city life. This is a place where you can unwind yourself and get attached to nature to the fullest. Adding to the beautiful surroundings is the hospitality provided by Mr.Avinash Redkar. We had lost our way after Castle Rock town and Mr. Avinash guided to the destination located amidst the thick forests The food served is awesome and the staffs are very courteous. We had a wonderful time sitting besides the camp fire where the temperature was hovering around 7-8 C. The stay is located pretty near to DudhSagar water falls. Mr.Avinash arranged the trek to DudhSagar falls and along with the help of a local traveller, we had trekked almost 2Kms to the top most point of the falls. The view from the top had left all of us spell bound. We also had a true jungle experience where we had a walk into the thick forests with nothing but a camera and stick in our hands. The rooms are decent and you could expect some insects. But the climate, the food and above all the hospitality of Mr.Avinash beats it all. We would like to thank Mr. Avinash for providing us a wonderful experience at one of the coolest places near to Goa...
