I would like to thank Selina for taking such excellent care of us throughout our stay, even after hours and on her off day. Our group had three rooms and she accommodated every request so well that we felt so bad. Having stayed at 6 different W properties in the past 5 months, W GZ stood out simply because of the attention we received. Thank you to the W team, especially Selina.

I recently completed a 3 night stay at the W Guangzhou for the Canton Fair. The hotel is quirky in nature, as are all W’s, and it reminded me of the W Hong Kong in some ways. The reception area was chaotic upon arrival, with loads of luggage lying scattered around. The first thing that was apparent to me is that many of the staff struggle with basic English. This was surprising considering it’s a 5-star hotel in an international city like Guangzhou. The reception area has 4 desks and at times it’s difficult to distinguish which desk is for what due to a lack of signage. I was allocated a room on the 7th floor at first and that proved to be a disaster. The room was located directly behind the lifts, and i could hear a droning sound every time the lifts moved. The back garden view of this room was also dreadful. I asked for my room to be changed and was given a much better room on a higher floor, with a view of the Guangzhou skyline. This room was a vast improvement on my previous one and i really loved it. The room was spacious and well-appointed, and you can never go wrong if you have TOTO sanitaryware in your bathrooms. The room rate during the Canton Fair also feels quite extortionate, considering it is three times the normal rate. The buffet breakfast was adequate, and i ate dinner at the Kitchen Table on the 2nd floor one night, and it was pretty average. My overall impression of the W Guangzhou is that the rooms are excellent, but there are major gaps in overall service that require improvement. They are competing with many 5- star hotels in Guangzhou, some who offer better value, and must ensure that their service levels improve.

I wood expect the W, an international hotel known for its attention to detail and guest services would have better trained staff members. Whilst they are very attentive and willing, almost all of them, including the concierge hardly speak a word of English! The bar which looks great often does not have many of the items on the menu, including red bull which is a basic commodity in my opinion. There is a bar/restaurant downstairs which is well decorated and furnished. The food menu is extremely limited (probably 20 items maximum), and when trying to order one of the items, I was told they do not have it in stock. Not acceptable for a 5 start hotel. Definitely will not be rushing back to stay at this hotel and whilst I am very much aware of the fact that I am not in an English speaking city or country, most 5 start global hotels have at least 50% of their staff being able to speak basic English and not have to rely on Google translate constantly. Lastly, unless you are planning on getting ripped off completely, I wouldn’t plan on going for a massage at their spa.

It is a Wonderful stay with W Guangzhou. The ladies at the W lounge are very helpful and attend to my queries promptly. They have arrange a Fantastic birthday experience for me and I appreciate for their hospitality. It is truly the Whenever/Whatever attitude at W and my fantastic suite is ready after my lunch. I enjoy myself at the W lounge and it is a new thing for me at W. The location is awesome and it is walkable to many places. There is a taxi stand at the hotel entrance and you also can call for didi easily. If you need, there are meituan delivery lockers at the hotel too. A special mention to The Walker Duo band at WooBar, they are Wonderful. Thanks Katherine & Leah and everyone else for a Wonderful Experience. Next time I will revisit W Guangzhou.

This was my stay at this W and my stay was pleasant. The room was well appointed and clean. I went to the gym early morning but it was not yet open and there was a standing pull down banner placed next to the door so I could not find the way in. After a few minutes I figured out and found the door which I could open by tapping my room key. I liked the breakfast very much - full selection of cold and hot items. Some staff in restaurant lacked smiles on their faces and they turned away when a non Chinese speaking guest would approach them. Perhaps more training can benefit them. Overall I thought the hotel is at par with other W hotels elsewhere.
