The Same Excellence After Thirteen Years

We have consistently gone back to the Hotel Turim Alameda over the past 13 years during our holidays in Lisbon. Over this time period, we note that the hotel has remained steady in its tourist practicality and extraordinary customer service, offering one of the best daily breakfast operations of any hotel in Portugal. Accordingly, I summarize below the most salient features of excellence offered by the Hotel Turim Alameda. LODGING AND FOOD SERVICES Room quality is very decent, providing a clean and tidy environment. While varying in size depending upon single or double occupancy, all rooms are adequately equipped. Bathrooms are clean and are frequently updated. WiFi has been recently revamped and modernized, offering unhindered access throughout the 7-storey hotel. The daily breakfast is solid and diversified, eliminating the need for clients to have to leave the hotel in search of breakfast elsewhere. In addition, especially after a fatiguing day of walking around Lisbon, the hotel’s cocktail lounge offers a variety of beverages (both adult libations and non-alcoholic). LOCATION IN LISBON We have long believed that the location of this hotel makes it a most practical choice for tourists in Lisbon. This is because the locale across from the “Instituto Superior Técnico” (a major European university of engineering) is a very safe and clean section of Lisbon. I refer specifically to the high level of neighborhood security, but also to the availability of various shops, restaurants, grocery stores, supermarkets, bakeries, takeaways, laundromats, and “multi-bancos” (i.e., ATM machines)––all located within reasonable walking distance from the hotel. For those tourists who enjoy using the Lisbon Metro as a means of transportation, there are three major Metro Stations located within walking distance of the hotel. These include the Saldanha Station, the Arroios Station, and the Alameda Station. Between the three (which service different underground metro routes), the tourist is able to travel to and across most sectors of the Lisbon metropolitan area. For those who prefer private transportation, taking a taxi or an Uber to visit central parts of Lisbon is an easy task. Ordering a taxi at the front desk for us has always been an efficient and inexpensive solution, with an average wait time of 5 minutes or less. And as far as Uber and Bolt go, these private ride-hailing services function quickly and efficiently at the Turim Alameda Hotel. Personally, the excellence of hotel location alone would cause me to assess the Turim Alameda as top-rated, since there can be other areas of Lisbon which are not nearly as orderly and uncongested. (Take note of this fact when deciding in which part of the metropolitan area you will stay.) FLEXIBLE, ADAPTABLE STAFF All hotel staff members should be commended for being very client-friendly, accessible at a minute’s notice, and willing to assist tourists with tips and advice about discovering Lisbon. As a former CEO myself, I believe that this high quality of staff excellence starts with the adept Hotel Director Rui Henriques, who has painstakingly assembled a team of talented and multi-lingual professionals to make your stay most pleasurable. When you select the Turim Alameda for your stay in Lisbon, you will encounter Carlos Rodrigues (Reception Manager); Daniel do Carmo (Night/Assistant Reception Manager); Wanessa Campelo, Daniel Cavaca, Inês Amaro, Iara Texeira, Gregorio Diaz, and Gonçalo Fernandes (Receptionists). In addition, Ricardo Costa of the food services/bar operation and Helder Jesus of Maintenance Services are equally friendly, accessible, and helpful. All such team members collectively make the Turim Alameda run like clockwork––even when the hotel is fully booked––providing fast service and expert problem-solving during all moments of your stay in Lisbon. This is truly a top-ranked hotel team––the equal to which I have been unable to find anywhere else in Lisbon!

Nice hotel, quite basic, very clean with a modern feel . A 40 minute ish walk to town centre which is reflected in the price. We arrived on a Friday to find the hotel bar was closed apparently bar man hadn’t came in , benefit of doubt for one night but nothing had been done to rectify this on Saturday and Sunday as well !!

From my experience.....

My recommendations before booking: Not sure if it's handicap friendly hotel. The elevators are very small and might have a problem with wheel chair and the companion to get in together.Compare prices also at the hotel web (I did and was cheaper). Ask for a balcony (check if there are differences in prices).Rooms without balcony have more space! !.If no disabilities, go for room with bathtub, not sure if the room is bigger but has more space at bathroom.Check air conditioner-not always works properly.Closet is tiny, not space for clothes on hangers or folded, no draws. No space for suitcases. Rooms are very small but for us was ok because we were almost all time out.Parking at hotel 15 EUROday-reserve on time coz there aren't enough spots. If it's a big car and no good driver, might be a problem.Parking on streets are all payable on meter machines. Saturdays and Sundays are free on street and can be pay in advance when the meter starts.Read with google translate for parking signs some are only for residents or restricted hours. Service was great, every day room cleaning, at restaurant very servicial workers. We had a medical situation and the information given at the reception wasn't good. The only important info we got was that there are two kinds of a hospitals: private and public and depending on that is the waiting line for treatment. The receptionist started to look at the internet for a hospital address, wasn't sensitive to the situation-didn't even ask what is the medical problem or if we need and ambulance or so. I think that emergency information for the guests at the hotel must be on a chart for SOS situations to the staff even if the tourists have medical insurance. That was very disappointing.

Hi Great Hotel 5 minutes walk from Metro. Supermarket nearby and close to many restaurants. We arrived early and our was Ready so we could go straight up. Daniel on the front desk was exceptional...we wanted to go on a tour to Sintra. Daniel recommended a full day tour and we were not disappointed .....well done Daniel. There are no breakfast options here....they have a room service menu but no breakfast menu. The elevators are small we got my husband and a case in one. Room was comfortable we were on the 7th Floor and had a balcony. Quiet neibourhood.

Charm and Excellent Customer Service

We have gone back to the Hotel Turim Alameda several times over the past 12 years during our holidays in Lisbon. Not only has this hotel remained steady in its charm and excellent customer service, it has continued to evolve with the times and the increasing demands of tourism which Lisbon has experienced. Put another way, this hotel has not missed a beat over the years and continues to be a practical choice for tourists in Lisbon. Below I summarize from my perspective the most salient highlights of the Turim Alameda: Lodging/Food Services, Location, and the Hotel Crew. LODGING AND FOOD SERVICES Room quality is very decent, offering a clean and tidy environment. While varying in size depending upon single or double occupancy, all rooms are adequately equipped and efficiently designed. Bathrooms are clean and are frequently updated. WiFi––which was recently revamped and modernized––is of outstanding signal strength and offers unhindered access throughout the 7-storey hotel. The daily breakfast is solid and diversified, eliminating the need for clients to have to leave the hotel in search of breakfast elsewhere. In addition, especially after a fatiguing day of walking around Lisbon, the hotel’s cocktail lounge and restaurant operation offer a variety of beverages (both adult beverages and non-alcoholic) as well as lunch and dinner offerings. LOCATION IN LISBON I will reiterate a critical point I have made in earlier reviews for previous years about the location of this hotel. The locality near the “Instituto Superior Técnico” (a major European university of engineering) is in a very safe and clean section of Lisbon. I refer specifically to the high level of neighborhood security, but also to the availability of various shops, restaurants, neighborhood markets, superstores, bakeries, takeaways, laundromats, subway stations, and “multi-bancos” (i.e., ATM machines)––all located within reasonable walking distance from the hotel. Taking a taxi or simply walking to catch the metro in order to visit central parts of Lisbon is an easy task. Ordering a taxi at the front desk for us has always been an efficient and inexpensive solution, with an average wait time of 5 minutes or less. Personally, the excellence of location alone would cause me to assess the Turim Alameda as top-rated, since there can be other areas of Lisbon which are not nearly as orderly and uncongested. Take note of this fact when deciding in which part of the Lisbon metropolitan area you will stay. FLEXIBLE, ADAPTABLE STAFF All hotel staff members must be commended for being extremely client-friendly, accessible at all times, and willing to assist tourists with tips and advice about discovering Lisbon. As a former CEO myself, I believe that this high quality in staff excellence starts with the masterful Hotel Director, Rui Henriques, who has painstakingly assembled a team of talented and multi-lingual hotel professionals to make your stay most memorable. When you select the Turim Alameda for your stay in Lisbon, you will encounter Carlos Rodrigues (Reception Manager); Daniel do Carmo (Night/Assistant Reception Manager); Daniel Cavaca (Shift Lead), and Ana Maia, Pedro Arruda, and Wanessa Campelo (Receptionists). In addition, Marta Neto, Vitória de Jesus, Abílio Freitas, Anselmo Fonseca, and Nuno Pinheiro of the food services/bar operation are equally friendly, accessible, and helpful. All of these personnel collectively make the Turim Alameda run like clockwork––even when the hotel is fully booked––providing fast service and expert problem-solving during all moments of your stay in Lisbon. This is truly a top-rated hotel team––the equal to which I have been unable to find anywhere else in Lisbon!
