I stayed at Zuri from 22nd to 25th May, with my best friend. We were looking for a relaxed stay, where we can enjoy some great sea food, stay on the beach sand until late evening with some good Spa. Meh! The place promises you a lot from its big infrastructure, largely covered land and a Maya Spa. However, the things may just be over promised as the place is a big disappointment for a non veg lover. Lets start from the start. I booked this property on the suggestion of my agent and another friend in a big ass deal that is not worth the place you stay at. Yes Zuri is huge, its on the beach, so you can access the beach, but if you’re thinking that you can visit the beach in the night or stay till late evening? Its not advisable as they have not lit the place enough. I have stayed at the Leela in the past, on the south side of Goa and I know that if lit properly you can really enjoy your evenings at the beach. I do want to specially mention Vinod ji, the guard at the beach, smiling and kind every time you visit. I just happened to have conversations with a few of the staff members and he was one of them. Anyway, lets come to the cafes that are there on the property, the one on the beach, doesnt let you sit if you dont order food or drinks, even if its raining. The one the swimming pool, they have a bar chair in the pool but they wont serve food there you have to come out of it and eat, they will only serve you alcohol and apparently Ice cream, which I didnt quite understand the concept. The food is okayish at the pool cafe, not the best not worst either. For the everyday meals, where to start from, the service is pretty amazing. The staff is nice and courteous, specially Pradeep who served us almost everyday. But, let’s talk about the food and the Menu. I took both breakfast and dinner buffet, as the plan was to stay at the property itself and man I was disappointed. The first night the dinner was good but the offering for a non vegetarian was some chicken curry and one more chicken main course. Upon asking I got to know there is a SEPARATE counter outside the dining area that has one chicken snack and one grilled fish. Inside, where there was live station of veg snack alongside pasta which again they serve only veg pasta, the Chinese that has noodles but only veg. The weirdest of experience one can ever have. They treat non veg food as something that needs to be kept separately because apparently they have mainly Gujrati guests and they are vegetarians so they do not want to see non veg. I mean I dont think I have ever heard in the best of hotels that they treat non veg eaters separately just because they have a certain clientele. I really believed they were doing it for one night. But, to my surprise, the next morning, the breakfast consisted of 1 chicken sausage and ross omlette. Note, this is what youll see everytime you go for the breakfast, they do not serve anything else except for these 2 items on the menu for the non vegetarians. I was really looking forward to something different every morning but this is all that I got. For the dinner, we are back to having nothing special, if you want chicken pasta you complain and they will make a huge bowl for you in the kitchen, its not like you would have any non veg options. One type of grilled fish for snacks in dinner and one chicken snack. No chilli fish or fish finger or chicken manchurian or garlic chicken or mutton. Lord! Mutton would be too much to ask for. Soup would be there but in lunch they wont even serve that, so Chinese and Italian non veg you can forget. This is a type of a Five star property and they have a laid back menu. You call the chef and complain they will get you something in big quantity unnecessarily which you will either have to waste or either forcefully. One night the pasta was partially cooked, not boiled properly and the chef is like ill get you a new one, not sure of they changed the serving for all. The day I took lunch, was the day I had enough of their callous behaviour towards non vegetarians guests. I dont really care whether they have veg guests in a big number, I care for is I paid the same amount as them, or maybe even more than them as I was staying at their Premium room category which is higher than their superior category. So the lunch menu was completely veg and upon asking I got the answer that they have a wedding group hence its all veg. There was nothing to eat, no fish no chicken. Oh my god! My friend, who herself is a vegetarian lost it this time and spoke to their manager, he called in the head chef, who said that hell get me whatever I want. But, Mr Chef, I do not want an A la Carte I would like to have options and the want to have a small minimum quantity. He immediately served me some non veg snack which was good in taste and straight a main course north indian chicken which I didnt really want to eat as Id have liked some soup or maybe snacks or chicken noodles or gravy chicken. So disappointed! I did not get to relish different fishes, pomfret jhinga nothing. So dont go if food plays an important role in impacting your stay. My major issues were with the choice of menu, lack of options and treatment of non veg food. Goa mein ho and sea food ni hai kahin, no sea food no FISH. Khana hai non veg to bhar garmi mein jao. Ugh! Also, the food is average in taste. I do want to appreciate the pastry Chef for the relishing danishes, the desert was always on point with variety and good taste. I love pancakes and waffle so I had those almost every day. I would have loved to come back to Zuri or send my parents for their serene stay but only because of lack of options in the food menu and bad choices I would not like to. They room does seem small as per the money and the bathrooms are small and have no bathtub, no special toiletries like Kama or forest. You will get Zuri stuff to use. Theres a small Maya spa for massages, its meh! Youre ok with it if you have no experience of massages, as oiling is a lot, massages wont feel like such. I mentioned the lady I had sun burnt arms but the girl didnt know so she applied oil on the burnt area, I thought that its ok, that she knew and it may be ok, but that did generate heat further on the burnt area. We did mention to the staff and they offered us a free foot or shoulder massage, we took the foot massage as there was no time, this time it was done better. So yeah everything around there works after you complain. A few of the staff members id like to appreciate, Prapti for understanding my issue with the room and offering us another one, though we chose to stay in the same room as we were lazy to pack again.Vinodji at the beach, Pradeep and Farhad at the buffet there was another server but I forgot his name. Infact appreciate the whole crew as everyone is extremely courteous, kind, understanding and helpful. Good property well maintained, clean well equipped. But, food plays an important role in any hospitality and thats where they lacked. Oh! They gave us an interlinked room and the neighbours were extremely loud, we had to complain for that twice. Loved the waterfall pool setup! But this can fool you, you may get pool view room, that could be the small pool which noone visits and is pretty sad around there. The beach is accessible from the property, the staff is well equipped with beach towels, but locals can also come there. We had a few lurkers who made us pretty uncomfortable. All in all Id give Zuri an average rating. Hope this review helps someone in planning their vacation.

We booked this hotel through a well known website. One week before our visit was due to begin, the hotel emailed us to say the credit card number we had used for our reservation was incorrect. I thought this was odd because all of my other reservations for the same holiday had worked perfectly well with the same CC. In any case, I resubmitted the CC details. 15 minutes later, they cancelled the booking! I spoke to them, and guess what - I could re-book the same room but for £1200 instead of £500! I would advise avoiding this hotel at all costs.
