In sweltering heat, I had to go to Kannur. My cousin had suggested the Hotel. It is refurbished / renovated traditional house converted into a spacious and welcoming hotel. It is a place where India's first PM Jawaharlal Nehru had stayed decades back. The beauty of the traditional architecture with its teak wood panelling, furnishing and beams straightaway transport you, to an era past. The reception area is most welcoming with waiting area. Receptionist Ms Sneha was there throughout, making us feel wanted, being there to tend to all our needs from food, beverages, internet, guiding us about the neighbourhood etc. etc. The rooms are beautiful, large Super king beds, comfortable mattress and selection of pillows. Air-conditioner is set at a comfortable level. Rooms have enough storage space. There is provision of 2 lit of water (relief), tea, kettle and milk ( just an advise, leave some Coffee and sweetener too!). Toilets are clean and well stocked from dental kit to shaving kit to soaps and shampoos. Towels were clean. Shower was brilliant for this weather. There is a bar, in case one wants to visit a watering hole. Enough private space to park your car as well for morning walk. Restaurant serves both traditional Kerala dishes so also North Indian and Chinese cuisine. One can ask for typical Malabar dishes. Service is good. Manager was an extremely helpful gentleman who organised our transport and, also made sure our stay was relaxed and eminently enjoyable. Trips to beach, fort, traditional dance museum (and see a performance) or to neighbouring areas like Payyannur for nature walk or Dharmadam for kayaking could be arranged. There are two malls nearby, if you fancy some shopping or do a walkaround for street food. Thanks for lovely stay, do maintain the place as it is.

This Hotel has a super friendly reception desk. The charming ladies are unusually helpful and very attentive. We appreciated that a lot. Another strong point in favor of the Hotel is the nice garden. You can enjoy a cool Kingfisher beer there, but unfortunately not everyday. On certain days they are not allowed to serve alcohol. There is a restaurant inside, but we found it more enjoyable to eat outdoors. Service is quick and the food we had was ok but nothing special. Our room was clean and big enough. Since the Hotel has been refurbished recently, everything was in excellent condition - we particularly liked the well kept woodwork. We will keep a fond memory of the Surya Heritage Hotel and it’s friendly personnel.

Just a great place to stay! Was opened about 2 years ago and all is renovated in perfect manner. Rooms are spotless clean and all amenities available. Special thanks to to Mr. Bevin (housekeeper manager) who is a great lover of Switzerland. He showed us videos from 🇨🇭We didn’t even a clue about. Also many thanks to the manager who was just great and organized us a taxi trip to Kunnoth for a reasonable price. Also the food was very good -the curries just as we like it - not to spicy - but also not for “Indian beginners”. For our next Kannur stay is’s decided: we will stay at your place. Thanks for everything and we had a great stay!

I had travelled with my family, including my Amma who is a senior citizen. The resort is located in the heart of the city but away from the hustle of city life. The property belongs to a well known family and they have taken care to maintain the aesthetics value of each section of the property. Rooms are cozy, traditional keralam feel. The breakfast is limited however, freshly cooked. The menu for the day is filled with mouth watering Malabar cuisine and from other parts of India. The service is top class, with the personnel totally committed to looking after your needs. Even the guests/ friends of the guests are made to feel at home. Value for money.

This hotel is historic and beautiful, with beautiful original wood everywhere… Staff were very friendly and helpful… It was my first time in Kannur, and Ajit would insist that my Tuk Tuk drivers call him for any assistance… The food is also fantastic, and I hope to stay here again.
