This is my second stay in sofitel within 2 months. I selected sofitel again, just because I had excellent guest experince in my previous stay. Clean, close to central locations, fins food and moreover wonderful staff hospitality can be enjoyed in the hotel. Besides, i send my special thanks to Mr Umut Öfkeli, duty manager, he had his best to make us comfortable. I could observe he was so kind and caring to his guests as well. I definately will stay again if i go to Munich, and contact Mr Umut Öfkeli. Many thanks and regards,

Everything you can ask for and expect. Stayed at this hotel for work event. Rooms were clean and facilities were great. Small things make all the difference. Lovely dressing gowns and slippers. Mini bar , bottle fresh water everyday. Iron & ironing board in the room. Great location , pretty much in the centre of the town and close to the train station. Staff very friendly and super efficient. Would recommend and will return.

We arrived at Munich Hbf and took the two minutes it takes to walk to the hotel. We had arrived early so had to wait and hour and a half before we could book in - part and parcel of the game I suppose - we don't pay early book ins at hotels - the exception of course as any experienced backpacker will tell you is Travelodge budget hotels in London - its a must. Thankfully, the weather was nice and we soon left our backpacks and were out and about in the city centre which is only five minutes away. The reception was straight forward enough and we were soon up in our room which had more light switches than Blackpool has lights and Nasa has rockets. The room and bathroom were both clean and tidy - but the towels lacked the standard of Premier Inn which are, it has to be said: class and far, far better than what was on offer here - when your paying good money you expect good quality. There are bath robes (including slippers) also available - cool. The tv in the room is on the large size and have hundreds of channels - can never understand people wanting to watch tv when there's a city to explore. No point in passing a comment on sleep quality (the bed was massive) as you either have a good night sleep or you don't simple really - can't blame the hotel. We did not dine in the hotel as there's ample restaurants and fast food locations as good as outside the hotel's front door. A good mid-range hotel which is only minutes away from the city centre and the hundred of sights that the city of Munich has to offer. Booking out was a bit slow, as we were trying to leave (train to Paris) other guests were trying to book in. We attempted to pay our bill earlier as is our normal practice and happily accepted by most hotels but not here it seems. The Sofitel staff must think people are going to run with the beer and chocolates in the fridge - how sad is that! Even so a good hotel, in a good location and with good staff what more do you want. Definitely NOT a 5 Star Hotel

My recent stay at this supposedly five-star hotel left me thoroughly unimpressed. Despite its grandiose reputation, the reality fell far short of expectations. Upon entering the bathroom, I discovered the body wash dispenser was empty, indicating a lack of attention to detail in housekeeping. To make matters worse, the bidet was broken, adding to the overall feeling of neglect in the facilities. But the disappointment didn't end there. Despite being "upgraded" to a "supreme" room, I found myself located on the ground floor, with a view that consisted solely of a construction wall. This absurd attempt to pass off a room with such a dismal outlook as an upgrade was insulting, to say the least. To add insult to injury, the elevator was in a sorry state, barely functional and causing unnecessary delays and inconvenience. While the hotel's location next to the main train station may be a saving grace for some, it hardly makes up for the myriad of issues encountered during my stay. Frankly, I've had better experiences at hotels with far fewer stars. It's clear that this establishment needs to prioritize fixing its facilities over sending canned responses to dissatisfied guests.

Over-the-top whimsical design experience

The beds were comfortable but the rest of the room was an eye-sore. Let's say you give a young punk designer the task of doing up a hotel room in the most whimsical and o.t.t. manner possible and you get the rooms at the Munich Sofitel. There was not a single normal piece of furniture to sit except the toilet. Everything also seemed to be designed for very small people - toilet paper as well as kleenex 20 cm from floor level, towels hidden below the sink. A very heavy glass door had to be shifted around to gain access to the toilet and the shower producing grinding sounds. Public spaces are made up in bling-bling-fashion. Seating in reception again for very short or very athletic people - seat height 15-20 cm above floor level so not for anyone over 30 or you'll never get up again.
