Been coming to Shangri-la Muscat for the past 5 years…always in May or August and in the same room 2034/2035. I’ve seen the Westin and Jumeriah Beach but I always come back to ShangriLa because the staff make you feel part of a wider family. That’s the difference between this chain of hotels and others. On 28.05.24 I had a really bad headache. I texted Chef Sahil if he could make a traditional cup of tea with ginger and spices (Karak chai) He replied he wasn’t working as it was his day off however he contacted the kitchen and asked Chef Vikas to make it as per my request and had it delivered to my room! That’s the shangri La experience! 29.05.24 I wanted the same tea for breakfast. Now if you understand Karak tea it takes 20 minutes to make as it involves crushing spices and brewing. Chef Mohammed and Chef Murti made it for me. Perfect colour and perfect flavours. 11/10. I always find that in Al Tanor goes above and beyond with the service and hospitality. The chefs will make bespoke meals to cater for discerning palates (like me). Motoaz Ali, I’ve known him 3 years now.Always comes for a chat in the morning and always obliging. Khalid the concierge - thank you for showing us the best spot to catch the most memorable Omani sunset. Chef Sahil, concierge Khalid, Motoaz Ali, chef Murti, Chef Mohammed and Handi - who makes the best crispy dosa a huge huge THANK YOU for making this yet another memorable experience and see you next year!

Exceptional service, reactive and very professional staff, friendly and smiling. Rooms are very nice view, leasy pool are very fun and relaxing for kids and adults. You can enjoy the jetski and many water sports activities. I went 3 already and I will definitely come back

A fantastic time spent here for my first solo holiday! Too many people to call out from reception to concierge, life guards, pool and beach attendants and room servicing including the amazing towel art too. Unfortunately my case went missing but luckily turned up the following morning! The hotel chased this down for me and provided essentials and clothes, in other words made me feel like nothing was a problem! This feeling continued throughout the week. I did find the trip to the Souk a little intimidating but loved the Mall and hope to return to do more trips. Thank you for making my stay so memorable and to Trailfinders for the suggestion!

Luxury Escapes recommended and booked our stay at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Muscat which turned out to be another one of their great disappointments. The hotel upon our arrival, nearing midnight, appeared majestic and beautiful. The room upgrade was also a nice gesture except for the moment I went into the bed. I could not believe how uncomfortable and hard the bed was. After unveiling the many layers over the mattress I found a very old coil bed as hard as a rock. I asked them to make changes to the bed the following morning to make it softer, that evening I discovered that the only change they made was the mattress protector which really did not make any difference to the 2nd night of discomfort. We decided to change our flights & checkout earlier than planned as we could not take anymore of the sleepless nights due to the uncomfortable bed coupled with the chaos at the Resort, due to some renovations taking place at the kid friendly part of the resort Al Waha which meant that all those guests were moved to the part of the resort we were staying at. If you are a couple and would like to relax at a resort then I suggest you stay away from the Shangri- La. If you enjoy mayhem and a cafeteria style arrangement for breakfast which is overcrowded by families and the chaos that brings, then this place is for you. When we booked this Resort we were told by Luxury Escapes that we could use the facilities at the Adults only Al Husn, this turned out to be another one of their lies because when we checked we were told that Al Husn facilities were off limits.
