Horrible. Awful hotel. Unethical for this to still be open.

Unethical for this to be a hotel charging 350+ euros per night - not a hotel - a building site - dirty - mice infested - smells - staff overwhelmed with complaints - also aware of the situation - THE worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Bar none Do not waste your money or time here. Marriott should be ashamed for keeping this place open for guests during the construction work. Likely not upholding to any kind of environmental standards they’re required to. Also no type of compensation provided for the truly awful stay. Chaos and mismanagement

Under construction until 2025

When we checked in we were told that the hotel was under construction and that there were scaffolding in front of the interior room’s windows so you may want to keep the drapes closed. Laura, the front desk manager, was very sympathetic and accommodating to my concerns after I saw that my room needed attention, due to the dust from the construction. I found the bathroom was fine, the bed was home to a good nights rest. The staff was amazing and very accommodating to your concerns about the reno. The first phase of newly renovated rooms will be available in July. I’m sure next year the hotel will be a beautiful piece of property! Location, location, location! Across from the train station and in the heart of city, you are walking distance from everything! Restaurants, museums, shopping, red light district, canals, every tourist destination imaginable.

MISLEADING ADVERTISING, NOT WHAT IT WAS

I’ve successfully stayed here in 2016 and 2019 with very positive experiences. Though the website indicated construction interruptions I couldn’t imagine how awful it is. I arrived this morning to the entry and all public spaces relocated to underground. Walls reverberated with sounds of jackhammers, the streets on all sides fenced off. Circuitous route to elevators which were slow with no one close by to ask for help. Hallway carpets insufficiently vacuumed. All in all the hotel should not be open for clients let alone charging outrageous rates. Though I had planned on staying a week and having my family once they arrive I’m staying only one night and cancelling the other reservations and relocating everyone elsewhere. Bad owners, bad management creating a horrible impression. They suggested I return in one year after renovations are completed. I DON’T THINK SO!!! Many cruise passengers booked here. They should look elsewhere.

Don't stay here until construction is finished if you plan to use the room during the day

Why a two-star rating? The room we stayed in was fine, the bed was comfortable, and the bathtub/shower worked well. We were warned about renovation when we reserved the room and at check-in. We opted to stay there anyway because we have stayed in hotels with similar warnings before and we expected some noise like hammering, etc. However, the construction noise is on another level in this hotel. There is frequent, and sustained heavy drilling and jack-hammering going on. I have been on many construction sites that were more quiet than our hotel room. I write this warning because if you want to use your room during the day (because you want to take a nap due to jet lag or you need to have an online meeting) you won't be able to do so. Napping was out of the question as were online meetings. PS: If you plan to use your room just at night the hotel is fine and deserves a four-star rating (it does need renovation) for that time period.

Beware, mice in room!

I've always stayed at this property whenever I'm in Amsterdam. However, this stay was my worse hotel stay ever. The hotel is under renovation, they should have notified us in advance instead of an email the day of arrival. They had to close part of the hotel which was fine, but the rooms that were available were old and moldy. Mice got into my luggage and chewed through chocolate bars that I bought in Maastricht. My friends in another room had the same issue, the mice got into their snacks. The hotel staff was apologetic but didn't even offer to discount the room rate. I would not stay here again until the renovation is over.
