Without any prior notice to me or my travel agency, we were told our reservation was canceled when we checked in. The receptionist gave us a very vague explanation and made us believe he had worked with our travel agency to move us to a different hotel that is 20 minutes away. He did pay for our cab to the new hotel. However, we later found out that this person had lied to us about working with my travel agency for the relocation as my travel agency didn’t know anything about this change until in a later communication with us. We really didn’t mind being moved but you don’t have to make up a lie about the relocation. Our first impression of Vienna was not that good because this person.

The reason for the poor review is due to the ongoing refurbishment works and unhelpful reception staff. We were there 3 nights. Booked in January and wasn’t informed and they started in December, woken every morning at 7.10 by chainsaws and electric saws on the terrace below which was being used as a work yard. No carpets down outside the lifts and plaster work going on. Workman and industrial hoovers going at 8.00 am while going for breakfast. Complained first morning but nothing happened reception seemed to think there wasn’t a problem. On the positive side, the breakfast was good, the location is excellent for all transport. 5 minutes from trains and underground. Nice little restaurant/pub on the corner, very cosy and nice food if you don’t want to go into the centre. Check the work is complete before booking. Booking.com has it as a 4 star hotel, I would say 3 star at the most. Be aware, there is no tea, coffee or milk replenishment and reception won’t give you any.

Stayed for 2 nights. Train station and Vienna hop on hop off buses are very close to the hotel. Room was of average size and operating big suit cases was a bit of trouble. Room was provided with coffee maker and hot water kettle too. Front office was friendly and helpful in providing with bus tickets and storing bags too after check out. Usual fare in breakfast and staff were polite. Ganesh J Mumbai

We stayed at this just recently The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and we were met at reception with a builder carrying a huge drill for breaking up concrete. We should have realised just then that this was not going to be a relaxing trip On booking in at reception we were told with a smile that the builders were just finishing and it would be fine We checked in and made our way to the 6th floor. Room was adjacent to the elevator and directly underneath the workmen on the 7th and 8th floors and was very noisy The room could only be described as “compact “ with little or no room to move about The room was clean though and the bathroom had a selection of toiletries although the over bath shower did not suit us with no handrails to assist getting in and out Breakfast was limited with a poor selection The hotel was not for me so we cut short our trip and checked out early and stayed in another hotel nearby I feel that travellers should be made aware of the ongoing work before booking as if I’d known we would have chosen another hotel
