OK I am a Marriott fan, always stay in Marriott when I can, this was a typical well run clean etc Marriott BUT BUT do not go to the Sports Bar - Champions I think its called. Terrible service and as for the food just go round the corner to a schnellimbiss! I have rarely had such garbage fed to me, my currywust was a disgrace and my wife's chicken schnitzel was a testament to how thin you can pound chicken

I stayed here with my adult son and a friend as we were in Munich to watch the football at The Allianz Arena. The choice of hotel was a good one from every aspect. The twin room I shared with my son was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The air con unit was also very easy to use which seems a rarity by my experience. The shower room was also a good size and the shower itself lovely. We had breakfast included and this was also really good. Help yourself buffet with a choice of cooked food, cold meats and cheeses , fresh fruit, fruit salad , yoghurt and pastries with tea , coffee, water or juices. I sampled a significant amount of the choices over the two mornings and all was delicious. In addition, the Champions Sports Bar was a good place to dine which we did on the Saturday evening with the food in there very tasty and a good selection of drinks with plenty of different tv screens showing the various live games. I also need to mention the staff who were very friendly and helpful, in reception, in the sports bar and dining room. Location wise it is about 5 minutes from the metro station and only a 15 minute ride into the City centre. Highly recommended and I will definitely look to stay again as and when I re visit Munich.

This hotel has a lot of positives. The location is good - walking distance to the subway, a grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants. The breakfast is good and plentiful. I have never had an issue with the staff. The only thing that is a negative is the bed. The bed was so hard that it was actually painful to sleep in. When I informed the front desk, they did try to help by adding another mattress topper, but it was more like a duvet so didn’t offer much additional padding. I asked if it was possible to change rooms but was told that all mattresses are the same. I have stayed here before and don’t remember the beds being this uncomfortable so not sure if I just got a bad mattress.

The Hotel on Berliner Str- it is a lovely hotel on entering. Entrance is inviting. Staff - very mediocre- The bar in the foyer is a complete rip off. The internet is nonexistent- had to become a member to get wifi or pay €4.50/hr!! Joined and the wifi was not useable at all. Hotel held €50/per on my credit card and was told it would be released on check out. I had to contact our booking agent to look into this as the funds were not released. Now I’m told it will take 3 business days to release!!! Unacceptable. Told there is an airport shuttle bus - to discover its. 5 minute walk - (I don’t mind walking - but don’t advertise a service that is not at the hotel) I will probably not book at a Marriott hotel again, nor recommend it. It was disappointing.

We arrived at 4pm which was time we had provided to the hotel few days before since it was requested. I had done mobile check-in so time at the desk was just few minutes. But then they told that our room is not ready yet. We had to wait in the lobby until room was cleaned and prepared. Not Marriott class service. When we finally had room keys and found our executive room we noticed that it is on road side of the building. We measured 45-55db. Not good for light sleepers. All similar rooms were full so we had to stay in this one. Next thing was that the requested sofa bed for our daughter (9y) was not there. I contacted the reception. After an hour bed was done. However the sofabed was so hard that daughter moved to same queen size bed next the her big brother (15y) next night. Also those two queen size beds are harder than normally. After this I calculated the towels. There were towels only for three. New contact to the reception. An hour later we had seven sets of towels. They even offer another set of four towels later same evening. We said no thanks. Also there are practically no hooks for your towels anywhere. For one towel there is a small shelf in the shower. Room was marked as ‘shower/tab combination’ but there was just walk-in shower. No bathtub. There might have been before renovation in 2019. That would explain. Same misleading information problem was with hotel restaurant. We found three different menus with different pricing on different Marriott sites. Before checking the pool area ‘Himaplan’ we requested bathrobes from the reception. Those were delivered in a hour. Three adult size robes and one for 128cm. This was first positive thing during our first day at the hotel. First two days towels of Himaplan were 30x80 cm. Bigger towels were available after those two days. Also two out of three lifts of the hotel were out of service on day. One was repaired during our stays (4 nights). Another one was not. We used stairs mainly when we left our room. Breakfast was ok but always the same. Omelette station serves well but since all hot dishes are in a table front of the station you might have difficulties to get access to those since people are waiting their omelettes. On last evening our keycards stopped working. We had to request new ones from the reception to get to our room – after trying all three first. I assume this was because requested mobile key was not working until last day. When I tested that all other keys stopped working. Or another option was that I paid the room early on last evening to avoid long lines of the reception. That was wise move since when we left the hotel lines were huge. Lot of personnel of the airlines stayed in the hotel. That might be partly because Lufthansa Airport Express bus stop is just 5 mins walk away. No need to take expensive taxi in case you travel light. Overall I would say that Marriot Munich is below Marriott standards. In case you want to have a room for four and like to have free access to the pool you might choose this hotel. In case you do not prefer to have pool I would rather suggest to choose another hotel. Pool is also pretty crowded most of the day.
