Please take a minute to read this review. The hotel is highly overrated-the property very old. Only good thing is it's proximity to mall road. The staff at reception is rude, inconsiderate and arrogant specially-Ms ANJALI and Mr SOUMITRA I had booked my room well in advance but at the time of check in I realized that the photos on their website are misleading-they allow triple occupancy in pigeon sized rooms only fit for accommodating 2 guests. In fact there was no space to put an extra bed, the guy showing us the room suggested setting up the bed in common area between 2 rooms. When I politely requested to change the room Ms Anjali at the reception very rudely told me ''This is a heritage property , it is you who has booked this room, not our problem''. We spent the next 30 min trudging up and down different flight of stairs to somehow get a room that could accommodate 3 guests .The rooms only got smaller, shoddier, the bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years, unhygienic, cracked washbasins all being marketed in name of heritage. Ms Anjali continued to argue with us till someone else reminded her of another room in a newly constructed wing that might suit us. The room which appeared rather miraculously I must say suited us. Though there was construction noise right outside the window we were too exhausted to argue further. When the guests are tired after a long journey the last thing they need is unfriendly and uncooperative people at front desk. When I asked about room tariff Ms Anjali said it will be the same as the one I had previously booked. But icing on cake was Mr SOUMITRA who was manning the front desk when we were checking out. When I enquired about room tariff he told us it is lesser than the one previously booked by us. So clearly Ms Anjali had lied to us. When we asked him why are we being charged a higher tariff Mr Soumitra became very aggravated and obnoxiously told us that it was our decision to stay in a different room, a small room was our problem to deal with, not the hotel's. When we told him to stop being rude or we will have to talk to the management he immediately showed us his nametag and told us to go right ahead. We were too shocked and instead of creating a scene paid the amount they charged. No fear of management can only mean one thing that the employees are not answerable at all. How can the hotel charge us tariff of a room we never stayed in? Where is the integrity? With such a condescending attitude of the staff of Mayfair Darjeeling it would seem that we are staying at the hotel free of cost. This is not the first time I've put up at Mayfair. Having previously stayed at their Puri, Bhubaneshwar and Gangtok resorts Mayfair Darjeeling came as a rude and bitter shock to us. Please book yourself a different resort/hotel when staying in Darjeeling because Mayfair Darjeeling at this price point and nothing to show for it, is a waste of money.

Very nice experience. The arrangement by Ranajit Biswas was fantastic. The food was delicious . We had booked a small hall for a family function. Ranajit's team managed to decorate the hall with proper aesthetic. His superb co-ordination helped us to make our party success
