Great expectations….

We had had great expectations based on the excellent location, photos and the reviews. Not sure if we were unlucky, but our loft was a couple of minutes away (and a lot more than the maximum of 50m advertised - unless you were a pigeon) from the main base…. On a second floor (over ground) with no lift. First impressions were good - plenty of space - but the loft did feel a bit tired and lived in. The kitchen however was well equipped - but the rest of the apartment lacked soft furnishings… e.g. no seat in either bedroom, no cushions. Unfortunately we had to get the maintenance man in to fix a couple of things. On arrival - there were no instructions or welcome pack… no bottles of water in the fridge even. Most of the channels on the TV ( when you eventually got it to work) were unavailable…. If you wanted your room to be serviced - it was extra. Both the bedroom and the sitting room were overlooked… from literally across the road - not ideal! Worst of all was the noise of bins being emptied first thing in the morning… and revellers into the early hours. Better windows and soundproofing would help a lot. Lastly… the steps in the apartment were less than ideal… especially - but not limited to - a night time visit to the bathroom! Overall it was “all right” but that’s it. Highlights of our stay were 2 of the staff Yve who helped us when we arrived and Marina who checked us in. It’s obviously a successful business but it needs to pay more attention to the detail.

I really liked the apartment. Clean and modern and perfect temperature. A bit noisy in the late evening but not noise ended around 1 am. My main warning would be not to underestimate the stairs. I was put on the top floor which is 8 flights of steep stairs (no elevator). It’s a bit of a struggle especially with heavy baggage. I also found it disappointing that there was literally nothing other than salt and pepper in the room. Establishments like this usually provide some essentials and I saw older complaints about this and replies to those comments saying they were planning to provide welcome packs. They don’t seem to be providing them as yet which is a shame. There isn’t even a dish soap to wash the dishes.

The food in the three restaurants was excellent. Roof-top restaurant panorama of the harbour was unparalleled. My only regret was that I was here on business. I am coming back with my wife to enjoy it together. Le Vieux-port est fantastique!

Great location! Friendly and amazing staff. Very helpful and accommodating. The loft is very nice and spacious. The one small drawback is no elevator in the lofts building. Overall great and fun experience. Would do it again in a heartbeat

We loved this apartment and the location was great! Nice comfy bed, with separate seating area, dining area and kitchen. The isn't an elevator but we didn't mind that at all. We had a corner apartment with a view of the corner on Rue St. Paul however it was very very quiet in the apartment which was very nice. Check in is in the main hotel, Auberg du Vieux and there is housekeeping service upon request.
