I will give a point wise review… Location: Very Good (you take U1 to taustummengasse, go up and the hotel is right there) … in the city centre in a quiet area Room Size: Decent Bathroom: Manageable size Housekeeping: Very Good Breakfast: Worst Ever Reception: Cold The feeling we got at the reception of the Hotel was unwelcoming. We didn’t have any difficulties at the reception but we felt as if we had chosen a wrong hotel because of the lack of hospitality. And the biggest disappointment was the breakfast. They don’t have a toaster, imagine a breakfast on a cold day without a hot toast, need I say more. Also you don’t feel welcome at the breakfast restaurant. I chose this Hotel after talking to them as I had read mixed reviews but my experience was far from satisfied.

The Hotel Johann Strauss is well-appointed and in a convenient location. The staff was friendly and helpful. They were instrumental in helping our group get around town and quickly answered all of our questions and requests.

We spent a total of five nights at Hotel Johann Strauss one on our arrival in Austria and four on return from Radstadt. On our arrival, for one night we were on the first floor where the rooms were rather small, on our return to Vienna we stayed on the 6th floor where the rooms were larger. The hotel is centrally located which is quiet convenient for walking down to the historic district and the underground station is located about 50 to 70 m from the hotel. Convenience stores are also within walking distance. The front desk was extremely helpful and ready to provide all information and necessary guidance, Peter requires special mention as his cheerful nature coupled with readiness to assist was outstanding. There was a decent spread for breakfast as far as variety goes however the menu was the same right through our stay. This review was erroneously left in the draft folder. Visit was on June 2022 but since it has reached the cut off date it is loaded as Sep 2022 noted here for sake is good order she clarity.

Wonderful 4 star hotel ideally located for visits to see beautiful Vienna’s attractions. Rooms excellent, super clean, good quiet air con, excellent breakfast, located right beside a stop on the main U1 metro line. One stop from the state opera house and just two stops from the city centre Stefanplaz district and the Spanish riding school. Warm friendly staff. Rooms have air con, fridge stocked with light drinks and snacks, good elevator. Hotel has modern facilities yet in a charming old world building. The streets outside are quiet yet a minutes walk from the tram network and the U1 metro line which is excellent. Well worth the 5 day city travel pass converging trams, buses and the brilliant metro underground. The proximity of this hotel to U1 made all the difference for us and made our holiday viable and enabled us to reach so many sights quickly with ease. We’ll be back to Vienna and this hotel in particular. Superb. Thank you.

The Hotel Johann Strauss is easy to get to from the Vienna main railway station (Wien HBF) by either walking or the U-Bahn (underground/metro), just one stop away on route U1 and the hotel is only about 50 metres from the exit! Likewise getting into the centre town is an easy 15 to 20 minute walk or the U1 will take you there in just two stops. The hotel itself is good value for money. yes there are a few irksome things, one being that the air-conditioning ft guestrooms doesn't appear to get switched on until the month of June and secondly, the shower pressure is a hit or a miss as is the temperature of the water. TV screen is also very small but like most people, does it really matter? Are you there to see Vienna or the TV? The rooms are big, the bed is comfortable enough the hotel is clean and the internet wifi works well. There is also the usual hotel type safe in the bedroom cupboard. Breakfast is buffet style, the usual for Europe. Choice of breads, rolls, pastries, croissants etc as well as a choice of cereals, yoghurts, egg, bacon and sausage as well as cold meats and cheeses, fruit juices and a coffee machine. A good variety and it was tasty. Staff are helpful and polite, especially Ferdinand. A big plus point. Overall, if back in Vienna I would return to the hotel as I thought it good value for money and the staff were very amenable
