Wet carpet/floor, staff was NOT helpful

Soon after checking into our room we realized the whole area of the carpet between our beds was completely soaked. Even stepping on it lightly left our socks wet. I called the front desk in hope that we could get switched to a different room. When I called the only thing the front desk said was that they would send maintenance to our room later. I wasn't given a chance to speak or ask for something else because they hung up the phone so quickly. I thought and expected to be given different options to resolve the issue but again whoever I spoke to only said they would send maintenance to our room. I was not satisfied but it was late and we had been traveling all day, so we set 2 towels down on the wet area and avoided stepping on it. The next morning I woke up and the towels were all wet and brown in color, without us stepping on them they had soaked a lot of the moisture. The carpet was still very wet so I went down to the front desk and told them the issue once again, I even provided photos of the soaked towels, again I was told that they would send maintenance or the cleaning people to our room. I was once again not given any other options before being pushed aside and not given a chance to speak further. The wet carpet was disgusting, it smelled and left anything that touched it wet and brown, it was a big inconvenience and the front desk staff were not very helpful at all, they had the chance to take an extra step to guarantee satisfaction but did not. The cleaning people, I assume, did come in while we were out. We came back to our room and the wet area was now dry and the towels had been removed, although a few spots were still a little wet but It still left a smell. Some other things that brought my rating down was the A/C, when using it it would leave a musty smell and feeling in the room. The entire carpet had a gross grimy feeling to it, I stepped on it once while barefoot and It felt like the carpet had never been washed once, you could feel a thick layer of nasty buildup sitting right on top. The pool hours, they had their set pool hours but every time we called double check that it was open they said it was not. Once we did call and they said it would be open in 30 minutes (each time we called it was during the opening ours when it should've been open). When we did go down into the pool, it hadn't even been cleaned, there were bugs, hair, small bits of trash and even large rocks in the pool.

This location is in a highly questionable area. I was in the lobby trying to do homework and there were several people high on drugs in the lobby pacing with no socks or shoes, smacking himself, and made me feel very nervous. I asked the front office attendant and he said "he does that from time to time". It made me and my son feel unsafe in the lobby of our own hotel. He did nothing about it. Also, a few ladies were checking in with thier kids and chanted "F*#k my baby daddy" for several minutes. so dissruptive. Also, the pool looked like it hadnet been used or cleaned in a while. There was trash in it, the water was green/brown, and looked slimy. I would never stay here again.

Place was very clean and well maintained. Hot breakfast and waffle maker was a hit. The bed and feather pillows were very comfortable. We slept well stayed for 4 nights. We will definitely return again.

Overall a nice stay. Very clean and surprisingly quiet, even though our room was by the elevators. Staff friendly, helpful, and quite nice. Nice, generous breakfast. Decent mattress and finishings are attractive. TVs work well. Few minor complaints: one bedside table is tiny and too short with no lamp. Bathroom door is barn door style and doesn't extend far enough on the sides to completely cover the sides so there are gaps on both sides.

I am a Louisiana lawyer who had to go to Dallas for a Texas court appearance. This is a nice hotel across the street from the courthouse and offered a decent hot breakfast. They are telling me that my review has to have 200 characters, so I'll add that the room was clean and had a refrigerator.
